The Green Valley High School Dance Department consists of about 250 students that attend GVHS. Our program caters to dancers of all levels and abilities!
Dance I is a beginning level class that focuses on basic technique in the areas of ballet, jazz, contemporary/lyrical, and hip hop. Each dancer is given the opportunity to perform in our Fall and Spring Showcase. Dance II is an intermediate level class that elaborates on ballet, jazz, contemporary/lyrical, and hip hop techniques while providing opportunities for student choreography. This class focuses on the development of dancers as performers. Each dancer is given the opportunity to perform in our Fall and Spring Showcase as well as the annual Performing Arts Week in December. (AUDITIONS REQUIRED) Dance Teams (Junior Varsity & Varsity) are groups of dancers that are considered to be at the elite level. Several performance opportunities are offered including but not limited to assemblies, football games, Fall/Spring showcases, Performing Arts Week, volleyball, basketball, CCSD Dance Festival, local and out of state competitions, and more! These individuals represent the Green Valley High School Dance Program in the community, on campus, and at out of state events.
